Project Summary

The Standard Bank Building in Adderley Street is one of Cape Town’s oldest and most historic buildings. The building has not been in use as a bank in recent times.

In order to revive the building to meet current requirements, various proposals were tabled. These included an art gallery to the rear of the building which would include a modern rooftop structure accommodating a restaurant.

This modernisation will be the third major addition to the building in its history, allowing the building to reinstate a functional purpose for the foreseeable future.
