Founders Estate Houses Boschendal

Project Summary

Design Scape Architects was given the task of designing these five houses in accordance with the design guidelines and the natural and cultural significance of the area. It is recognised that any development on the Founders’ Estates must respond to the features, qualities and character of the landscape and the environment.



Trout Cottage is on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain to the West of the farm, it forms part of Boschendal farms rentable accommodation.

The four cottages on Neuwedorp were formerly workers’ accommodation that were built in the 1990’s. The site as with many others on Boschendal has beautiful aspects in all directions and most notably the Simonsberg mountains to the West and views down into the valley toward the Dwars river to the East. The site has many trees including oaks and is surrounded by arable fields.
