This new house, set in Newlands, was designed to meet the client’s requirement that the house take full advantage of natural light in winter, but would remain cool in summer.
Project Summary
It also had to relate to Kirstenbosch Gardens, and the mountain behind it. A spine wall runs through the house, organising the spaces and roofs accordingly, allowing the natural light in to enhance the choice of natural materials of timber, stone and earth.
