Standard Bank Building in Adderley Street is one of Cape Town’s oldest and most historic buildings. The building has not been in use as a bank for the last couple of years. In order to revive the building to meet current requirements, various proposals were tabled including an Art Gallery in the back portion of the building which would include a rooftop modern structure to accommodate a restaurant. This modernisation will be the 3rd major addition to the building in its history, giving the building a functional purpose for the foreseeable future.
